Advocate:  BEAM utilizes social workers and other leaders in the community to advocate for the safety and protection of children who are undergoing physical, emotional, or sexual abuse.

(Our counseling office in the slums pictured above)

A few months ago, a 10-year-old boy walked into our office in the slums with his one-year-old sister crawling behind him.  He sat down and casually began a conversation until I noticed the dried blood on his ear. His mother, who is only around occasionally and struggles with alcoholism, hit him on the ear with a machete. The conditions under which these children were living were horrifying.

Our social work team worked with other leaders in the community advocate for this young boy’s medical care and protection.  Eventually, the boy and his two other siblings were brought to a rescue center. Our team is still working with that facility to find a longer-term care plan for the kids.

Your monthly donation helps us provide for all of the expenses related to child advocacy: salaries for our social workers, transportation and home visits, as well as medical costs for children who have been abused.  Your donation also helps provide ongoing training for our staff in the area of child safety and protection.

Sadly, the cases of abuse and neglect of children in the slum are high.  However, you can play a role in the protection of vulnerable children in the slums by partnering financially with BEAM.

Will you join hands with us and become a part of our BEAM team?
